TITLE:     PROBATION OFFICER SEXUAL OFFENDER

                DIVISION

PURPOSE

 

This policy establishes the organization, functions, responsibilities, rules and regulations for deputies of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Probation Sexual Offender Division.

 

Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Officer Probation Officer assigned to Sexual Offenders, will work with a caseload of adults, primarily convicted of criminal sexual conduct. 

 

He/She will supervise, counsel and provides investigative and diagnostic services for the Court. 

 

He/She will provide casework, supervision groups, home visits and other related duties as assigned. 

 

DUTIES OF PROBATION OFFICERS (SEXUAL OFFENDER DIVISON):

 

  • Supervise adult probationers and supervised release offenders to ensure they meet Court/State DOC-ordered obligations
  • Counsels probationers regarding living conditions, employment, education, placement,personal problems, family issues and assist in efforts toward the treatment and rehabilitation of offenders
  • Appears in Court with client to present reports, as needed
  • Attends conferences for the purpose of evaluating cases and methods, and remain up to date on recent trends and research in the field 
  • Work closely with criminal justice system to develop programming for clients Attend multi-disciplinary treatment consultation group and placement screening team 
  • May have special project responsibility
  • Collaborate with broad range of Justice, mental health, law enforcement & social services systems professionals 
  • Field visits to home and employment
