TITLE: INITIAL CLASSIFICATION PROCESS

POLICY:
The offender classification plan shall provide for the
screening of all offenders at the time of admission for the purpose of determining proper level of custody and housing location.
RULES:
- Verifiable and documented data about offenders shall be used in the decision making process to separate offenders into groups that reduce the probability of assault and disruptive behavior.
- The facility shall ensure that offenders are classified without regard to race, color, creed, or national origin.
- During initial classification, the following criteria shall be used to determine the proper level of security for offenders
- Results of the classification assessment;
- Results of the classification interview;
- Staff notations on the offender's Behavioral Sheet;
- Personal observations;
- Information from other sources outside the facility;
- Housing location assigned during previous incarcerations.
