TITLE: RECLASSIFICATION
EFFECTIVE DATE: February 15, 2017
POLICY:
The classification process shall include systematic review of offender status, and revision of offender status as necessary in response to changes in offender behavior or circumstances.
DEFINITIONS:
- Re-Classification: The re-classification of offenders who have status changes during their stay within the facility.
- Significant Legal Status Change: Sentencing in excess of twenty (20) years, new and/or additional aggravated felony charges, or any legal status change that would significantly affect an offender based upon of their education level, mental ability, etc.
Offenders shall be re-classified at the time of a status change.
Status changes include, but are not limited to
- Significant change in legal status;
- Change in behavior:
- Offender becomes assaultive (verbally or physically);
- Offender becomes a victim of sexual abuse/assault;
- Offender becomes suicidal or non-communicative;
- Offender is given sanctions for violating facility rules;
- Offender's behavior improves.
- Change in Health status.
