TITLE: OUTSIDE AGENCY ASSISTANCE

PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to deputies in the request of or answering the request for assistance from another law enforcement agency.
It is the policy of this office to provide assistance whenever reasonably possible. Assistance shall be consistent with the applicable laws and policies of this office when another law enforcement agency requests assistance with an arrest or detention of any person.
This office may also request an outside agency to provide assistance. The Office may at the discretion of the Sheriff establish an agreement for reciprocal law enforcement with another agency, including those of neighboring states, provided those agreements meet statutory requirements.
.An agreement may include:
(a) Assisting other peace officers in the line of their duties and within the course of their employment.
(b) Exchanging Office peace officers with peace officers of another agency on a temporary basis.
