EFFECTIVE DATE:  February 15, 2017

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

It is the policy of this office to administer a training program that will meet the standards of federal, state, local and POST training requirements.

It is a priority of this office to provide continuing education and training for the professional growth and progressive development of its personnel.

By doing so, the Office will ensure its personnel possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a professional level of service that meets the needs of the public.

As directed by the Sheriff, each Deputy shall attend a Departmental In-Service Training session. This session may range in numerous topics, on hand training and re-certifications that are required.

Any deputy who misses an In-Service Training date due to a court appearance, illness, vacation or for any other reason shall make up the session immediately. Deputies who do not re-schedule and attend may have disciplinary action taken upon them.

All records shall be kept in a training file for each deputy.

POST Council requires that every POST certified deputy maintains 20 hours of training per calendar year by law. It shall be the requirement of both the Compliance Division and the individual deputy to confirm that the minimal standard has been met.
