Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has released the following:

UPDATE TO THE FATAL SHOOTING IN EVANGELINE PARISH APRIL 30, 2020.

Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Investigations Division is still actively investigating the fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the residence of 1224 Rock Pit Road in the Easton area.

The following individual has been arrested and remains in custody on the charge of 2nd Degree Murder with No Bond.  

Branson Chase Vidrine W/M, DOB 3/6/2002

Zane Smith a second suspect in the shooting on April 30, 2020 has been safely apprehended and is now in custody at the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office. An Affidavit and Warrant of Arrest was submitted to 13th Judicial Judge Gary Ortego and signed for the charge of 2nd Degree Murder. No Bond was set.
