TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO THE ARREST OF MONTEY LIVELY
In the early morning of February 11, 2025, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Division observed a black Toyota Camry traveling northbound on S. Chataignier St. in Ville Platte. The vehicle was observed to make an illegal turn and was subsequently stopped.
As the Deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle, He could smell what he recognized as the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. A Probable Cause Search of the vehicle was then conducted, which led to the discovery of thirty-two (32) grams of suspected marijuana.
The Operator of the vehicle was identified as a 31-year-old black male subject, Montey L. Lively, of Jeanerette. Lively held multiple active arrest warrants with the New Iberia Police Department, for the charges of: Illegal Use of Weapons, and Attempted Second Degree Murder.
Montey was then transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office where he was booked for the charges of:
1x Count: R.S. 40:966A(2)- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana) and was issued citations for traffic charges
There is an active hold on Montey for multiple warrants with the New Iberia Police Department. He is awaiting extradition.
