STOLEN ATVs RECOVERED; 1 SUSPECT ARRESTED

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has released the following:

On Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Deputy Sergeant Kalinsky Ardoin received a call from St Landry Parish Sheriff's Deputy Chase Godeaux in reference to the theft of a stolen ATV which was possibly stolen out of Evangeline Parish.

One man is facing charges in the theft of 2 All-Terrain Vehicles from the 3700 and 4400 blocks of Opelousas Road in Ville Platte.

Authorities say 21-year old Joshua Mott of Opelousas, LA, is being charged with 2 counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle (ATV), 2 counts of Criminal Trespassing, and 1 count of Criminal Damage to Property. He is currently incarcerated at the St Landry Parish Jail for a previous outstanding warrant. 13th Judicial Judge Chuck West set a combined total amount of $85,000.00 for Mott's bond on the above listed criminal charges.

Both ATVs were recovered and safely returned to the rightful owners without further incident.
