Stolen ATV Recovered with One Arrest
Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has released the following:
On August 27, 2020, Major Scott Fontenot with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on an ATV. The owner of the ATV could not provide ownership at that time.
On August 31, 2020, the owner of the ATV Mr. Charles Jason was called in for questioning. During the questioning it was discovered that the ATV had been stolen on or about August 15, 2020, from the 1200 block of Prairie Rhonde Road.
Charles Jason was charged with RS14:69-ILLEGAL Possession of Stolen Things (Felony). A Bond was set by Judge Ortego in the amount of $25,000.00
Jason was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail and later made bail. This incident is still under investigation.
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office is asking all owners to ensure that your ATV is secured and out of plain sight from the public. There has been an influx of ATV Thefts in the past month. Investigators are working diligently to recover the stolen ATVs.
