Sheriff Guillory And EPSO hard at work!!!!
Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following:
On the 14th of March, 2021- Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriffs Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, in the Reddell area. The Deputy made contact with the driver and advised him of the reason for the stop. While the Deputy was speaking to the driver, He could smell marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. The Deputy requested permission to search the vehicle and it was granted, leading to the discovery of illegal Narcotics. This led to the following arrest.

He was charged with:
LA:RS: 40:966.C- Possession of Marijuana
And an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for court.
On the 15th of March, 2021- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop, on a vehicle, on the Opelousas Rd. The Deputy advised the driver of the reason for the stop and while speaking to the driver the Deputy noticed certain things, which led him to believe that there may be narcotics inside of the vehicle. The Deputy then deployed K-9 Diego who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. The Deputy then conducted a search of the vehicle and located illegal narcotics. This led to the following arrest.

He was charged with:
LA:RS: 40:967.C- Possession of Schedule II Narcotics
LA:RS: 14:91.13- Possession of CDS in presence of a minor
On the 16th of March, 2021- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit conducted a Search Warrant on a residence located at 625 North Fontenot Street in Ville Platte. This was a result of numerous complaints from the community and surveillance. Once Deputies entered the residence, they located several different types of Narcotics, and U.S. Currency. This led to the following action.

LA: RS: 40:966. A.1- Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
LA:RS: 40:966. A.1- Possession with Intent to Distribute Ecstasy
LA:RS: 40:967.C- Possession of Crack Cocaine
LA:RS: 40:967.C- Possession of Hydrocodone
LA:RS: 40:966.C- Possession of synthetic Marijuana
LA: 14:91.13- Possession of CDS in presence of a minor
In a separate incident- On the 16th of March, 2021- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, on Magnolia Street in Ville Platte. The Deputies made contact with the driver and advised of the reason for the stop. While the deputies were speaking to the subject, Deputies noticed a plastic bag containing a white powder substance in plain view. The Deputies seized the bag and found that it contained Narcotics. This led to the following action.

LA:RS: 40:967.C- Possession of Cocaine
LA: 32:300- Possession of an open container
Also, on the 16th of March, 2021- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a truck, on Jackson Street, for a traffic violation. The truck refused to stop and led Deputies on a vehicle pursuit. The truck finally turned in to a driveway of a residence located at 312 North Latour Street. The Driver then exited the truck and began fighting and resisting the Deputies commands. The driver was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and a Search Warrant of the residence was issued and executed. This led to the discovery of over 50 grams of Marijuana and assorted Drug Paraphernalia. This led to the following action:

LA:RS: 14:108.1- Flight from an officer
LA:RS: 14:108.2- Resisting an Officer ( 3 counts )
LA:RS: 40:966. C.1- Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
LA:RS: 40:1023- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Also, on the 16th of March, 2021- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit, conducted a traffic stop on Tom Drive. Deputies advised the driver of the reason for the stop and observed Narcotics in plain view. The Deputies then conducted a search of the vehicle and the driver where more narcotics were located inside of the vehicle. This led to the following action.

LA:RS: 40:966. C.1- Possession with Intent to Distribute Ecstasy
LA:RS: 40: 969.C- Possession of Alprazolam
LA:RS: 14:91.13- Possession of CDS in presence of a minor
LA:RS: 40:1023- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Since taking office in July of 2020, I have kept to my word about working to rid the Parish of drugs. These last drug arrests bring the count to 210. We will not give up the fight. We will continue to work hard and diligently to fight for and protect our parish.
