Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Multiple Motor Vehicle Burglaries

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has release the following:

 VILLE PLATTE, LA - On November 5, 2019, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office responded to numerous incidents involving unsecured vehicles being burglarized from Valerie Road to Timmy Lane off of US Highway 167 N.  

There was a total of 7 residential properties that was trespassed on in the area which led to a total of 10 vehicle getting burglarized. All of vehicles that were successfully entered was left unlocked or unsecured. The suspect/s was able to obtain 2 firearms, a purse and wallet, and 2 personal checkbooks.

During the initial investigation, Deputies and Investigators were able to recover one of the stolen firearms (rifle) during a pedestrian traffic stop. The incident is still under investigation. One person has been booked and charged with Possession of Stolen Things (Firearm). His name is being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation. There are also 3 other male subjects that are being sought out as persons of interest at this time.
