PINE PRAIRIE ICE PROCESSING CENTER CORRECTIONAL OFFICER ARRESTED
On January 30, 2025, Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office was contacted by Warden Bryan Patterson of Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center (1133 Hampton Dupre Road Pine Prairie, LA 70576) stating he was notified of a Correctional Officer, who is a 35-year-old white male who was identified as John Dix who had narcotics in his possession while on duty. When agents contacted Dix, Dix was advised of his Miranda Rights and stated he understood his rights. Upon conducting a pat search of his person for the officer's safety, agents located, a small plastic container with 9 MDMA pills of various shapes and colors, a small plastic container with 5 round white pills with imprint RP b8 identified as Buprenorphine Hydrochloride Sublingual 8mg (Schedule III), a large baggie with 7.25 grams of Methamphetamine, and a glass meth pipe. Dix was arrested and charged with the following:
(1) 1 Count of 40:967A (Methamphetamine) Distribution/Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS
(2) 1 Count of 40:968C (Suboxone) Possession of Schedule III CDS
(3) 1 Count of 40:966A (MDMA) Distribution/Possession with Intent to Distribute
(4) 1 Count of 14:402 Contraband Defined as, Taking to and From Penal Institution
Warden Bryan Patterson provided a written statement from a Correctional Officer that stated while working the front desk, C.O. J. Dix entered the front lobby, put his keys and other items into a cubby bin, and placed them on top of the scanner machine. The Correctional Officer advised J. Dix that he needed to place the cubby in the scanner machine, J. Dix complied. When the cubby was running through the machine she saw that J. Dix had his personal cell phone, a lighter, and a black pouch, the Correctional Officer advised him that he could not have his cell phone or lighter on the compound and he stated that he was just grabbing some keys real quick. The Correctional Officer stated that J.Dix walked through door #8 and when inspecting the black bag in his cubby she saw a glass pipe, another cigarette lighter, and little pouches of white substances. The Correctional Officer stated that J. Dix noticed her inspecting the black pouch and asked her why she was looking in his wallet, she informed him that it was not a wallet and he quickly grabbed the pouch out of her hand and walked out the front door.
Warden Bryan Patterson also provided a written statement by J. Dix that stated he had his cell phone so he could communicate with the contractors on the compound. J. Dix stated he left his phone, keys, and wallet in the basket and went to check out some keys.
Pine Prairie Police Chief Shane Guillory, Officer Kevin Tate, Evangeline Parish Sheriff Capt. Joseph Lemoine and I Lt. Jessica Laborde arrived at the east side employee parking lot and located a red 2010 Ford F150 bearing Louisiana License Plate Z710890. K9 Diego was deployed and a free air sniff was conducted around the outside of the vehicle and K9 Diego gave a positive alert on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Warden B. Patterson escorted J. Dix who was holding a camouflage hoodie to his vehicle where we were located at that time he was advised that a free air sniff around the outside of his vehicle was conducted and K9 Diego gave a positive alert. He was then advised of his Miranda Rights and when asked if he had any illegal narcotics in his vehicle he stated "No y'all can tear it apart." While Capt. J. Lemoine and I began to search the vehicle, Pine Prairie Officer K. Tate began to search J. Dix's pockets and in the pocket on the left sleeve of his camouflage hoodie, the following items were located, At that time J. Dix was advised that he was under arrest and detained in a Pine Prairie Patrol Unit.
When searching J. Dix's vehicle in the center console 2 glass meth pipes were located. Warden B. Patterson advised that J. Dix's vehicle needed to be removed from the property, R & T Towing was contacted and took possession of the vehicle. Deputy Kaleb Aymond arrived at the scene and transported J. Dix to the Evangeline Parish Jail for booking.
Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center has signs informing all employees and visitors that their vehicles are subject to a search at any time.
When searching J.Dix's vehicle a black jacket with a hood and green gloves were located in his vehicle which resembled the clothing that was worn by the person who burglarized Fuselier's Pharmacy (10600 Vet Memorial Hwy Pine Prairie, LA) on January 20, 2025.
