Date Posted: 12/08/2020

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following:

On the 4th of December 2020 The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department's Criminal Patrol Unit, stopped a green van at Latour and Washington street for a traffic violation. When deputies made contact with the driver, they could smell marijuana coming from the van. Deputies advised the driver of the reason for the stop. They then asked the driver for permission to search the vehicle due to the smell of marijuana coming from it. Permission to search was granted. When deputies searched the driver and passenger, they located narcotics on there person. The female passenger also had narcotics in her purse. When the female was transported to the jail, she had crack cocaine located on her body.

While deputies were on scene still conducting their search, a different female walked up to deputies and started talking to them. Deputies noticed a shinny pointed object sticking out her pocket. When deputies asked what she had, she said a shank. Deputies removed an ice pick from her pocket for safety reasons. The female continued to put her hands in her pocket and fidget with something. When deputies asked if she had anything else, she said maybe some mojo. Deputies then searched her pockets and found crack cocaine. This led to the following individuals being charged as follows.
