~NARCOTICE PRESS RELEASE~ PAUL TATE III

On August 27, 2024, Narcotic Agents observed a vehicle fail to stop sign at the intersection of 4th and Chestnut Street.   A traffic stop was initiated by agents who made contact with the driver, identified as Paul Tate III 46 of Port Barre.  Tate was advised of the reasoning behind the stop. Tate was then instructed to provide his license, insurance, and vehicle registration.  Tate was also asked if he possessed any weapons within the vehicle or illegal substance to which he stated no.  Upon Tate exiting the car and because of the behavior of Tate, Canine Diego was requested to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted on the driver-side door.    A search of the vehicle was conducted and located in the top storage area above the driver's seat was a loaded Sig Sauer P238 Serial Number 27A055404, with a round chambered in the weapon.   Located in a speaker box between the passenger and driver's seat was a glass jar containing Marijuana weighing 8.37 grams and in the void above the radio was a plastic blue container containing 4 white in color round shaped pills imprinted CTI103 identified as Diclofenac Sodium Delayed Release 75 mg, 4 pink in color round pills imprint E345 identified as Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 30 mg, 2 round orange pills imprint I-2 identified as Ibuprofen, 5 oval orange pills imprint b973 2 0 identified as Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 20 mg, and 3 round white pills imprint L016 identified as Bupropion Hydrochloride Extended Release (XL) 300 mg.  

 Tate was advised of his Miranda Rights in which he stated he understood.  Tate also advised that he held a prescription for Adderall that was located and was advised that it was illegal to carry the narcotic outside of its prescription package.


Paul Tate III was issued a citation for his traffic-related offenses and Possession of Schedule I Marijuana under 14 grams. Tate was arrested and charged with 40:967 Possession of Schedule II Narcotics and 14:95. E Possession of a Firearm in the presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The vehicle was released to a valid license holder per the request of P. Tate.
