~NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE~ VERNON BERGERON

On August 3, 2024, Narcotic Agents assisted the Patrol Division on a traffic stop within the city limits of Mamou, specifically at the intersection of 8th Street and Poinciana with a vehicle for a seatbelt violation.  Upon making contact with the driver, who was identified as Vernon Bergeron, they immediately advised agents that he possessed a small amount of Marijuana in a backpack located in the area of the tailgate.   Agents located in the backpack in the tailgate were a zipper pouch with Marijuana residue throughout and a small glass tube containing 4 hand-rolled cigarettes of Marijuana weighing 2.5 grams.  Bergeron was issued a non-moving violation of No Seatbelt, and a criminal summons for 40:966 Possession of Marijuana, less than 14 grams.
