~NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE~ PHILLIP FREEMAN
On August 1, 2024, Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office while conducting speed enforcement at Veteran's Memorial, observed a vehicle traveling 60 mph in a 55mph zone. Agents activated the emergency lights and sirens to affect a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop on Veteran Memorial Highway. Upon making contact with the driver, who was a white male identified as Raymon Michael Boudreaux, agents could smell the odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Agents advised the driver, Boudreaux, and the front passenger, a 35-year-old black male identified as Phillip Freeman 35 of Crowley, to exit the vehicle. Both occupants were informed as to the odor of Marijuana and both were advised of their Miranda Rights. A search of the vehicle was conducted with .9 grams of Marijuana located in the driver area of the vehicle and 1.7 grams of Methamphetamines located in the backpack belonging to the passenger Freeman.
Boudreaux was given a traffic summons La. R.S. Code 32:61/Speeding and a Criminal Summons 40:966 Possession of Marijuana, Less Than 14 grams.
Freeman was arrested and charged with (1) Count of 40:967 Possession of Schedule II CDS Methamphetamines.
Due to the totality of the circumstances, Raymond Boudreaux was given a traffic citation for his traffic-related offenses as well as Possession of Schedule I Marijuana under 14 grams. Phillip Freeman was issued a citation for Possession of Schedule I Marijuana under 14 grams, and transported to Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office for further booking and processing for charges of 40:967C Possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine.
