NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE ~LIONEL GOUDEAU JR. ~
On March 20, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while conducting criminal patrol on Hwy 190, the Eunice Basile Hwy traveling east, when agents observed a vehicle bearing Texas license plate SHF7217 cross the center line and then cross the white line onto the shoulder. Agents activated the emergency lighting to affect a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, who was a 29-year-old black male identified as Lionel Goudeau Jr., agents informed Gouden of the reason for the traffic stop. During contact agent smelled the odor of Marijuana resonating from the vehicle. Having probable cause, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Located in the front passenger seat an open 1 pint bottle of Promethazine Syrup Plain 6.25mg/5ml containing approximately 8.3 fl oz of green syrup, on the front driver seat two sandwich bags both containing Marijuana 1.94 grams and 3.57 grams and located in an ashtray a smoked hand rolled cigar containing .96 grams of Marijuana was located.
Lionel Goudeau Jr. was issued a citation for the traffic violations, issued a criminal summons for the Marijuana, and arrested and charged with (1) Count 40:970C Possession of a Schedule V (Promethazine)
At that time, I activated my emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed that the brake lights were burnt. As we approached the vehicle, the driver, identified as Lionel Gouden Jr opened the door, and the odor of Marijuana could be smelt coming from the vehicle. L. Gouden Jr was instructed to exit the vehicle and walk to the rear of the vehicle to be patted down for officer safety. he was then informed of the reason for the traffic stop and that the odor of Marijuana could be smelt coming from the vehicle. L. Gouden Jr was informed that due to the odor of Marijuana, a search of the vehicle was going to be conducted, and when asked if there were any illegal narcotics in the vehicle, he stated that he was an addict and had Marijuana in the vehicle. When asked if there were any other illegal narcotics, he stated that he had some Promethazine in the vehicle.
Capt. Joseph Lemoine, Deputy Camryn Bullock, Deputy Lucas Parker, and Deputy Jonathan Durgin arrived on the scene to assist. During the search of the vehicle under the rear of At that time L. Gouden Jr. was placed under arrest and advised of his Miranda Rights, he was then transported to Evangeline Parish Sheriff Jail for booking. L. Gouden Jr was also issued a citation for Improper Lane Usage, Burnt Taillight, and a Criminal Citation for Possession of Schedule I Marijuana under 14 grams. Car Care arrived at the scene and took possession of the vehicle.
