~NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE~ ELIJAH GEORGE

On June 10, 2024, Narcotic Agent with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office while conducting speed control through radar traffic, agents radared a vehicle traveling North on Highway 13 bearing the Louisiana License Plate 305FNK, traveling at 71 Mph in an area zoned for 55 Mph. Agents activated the emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop in which the vehicle stopped on Highway 13 and Giant Road. Upon making contact with the driver who was identified as Elijah George.  George was advised of the reasoning for the stop and instructed to provide his License, Proof of Insurance and Vehicle Registration information.  Upon making contact with George, agents could smell an overwhelming odor of Marijuana emitting from his vehicle.  George was asked if he possessed any Marijuana within the vehicle, at which time he surrendered a Game Cigarillo Package containing a smoked hand rolled cigar containing Marijuana weighing 0.4 grams.   Agents were also aware of George maintaining an Active Felony Warrant. George was advised of his Miranda Rights, and arrested on the Felony Warrants.  A search of the vehicle was conducted in which a tan in color grinder was located in the driver's door. George was issued a traffic summons for the traffic related offenses and a criminal citation for Possession of Marijuana under 14 grams.  George was transported to Evangeline Parish Jail for further booking and processing. The vehicle was released to a valid license holder
