NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE ~ DARREL FONTENOT~

On March 24, 2025, Narcotic Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while conducting criminal patrol within the Ville Platte area, observed a Red Hyundai car bearing Louisiana license plate (500GSQ) traveling South on Tate Cove Road with the passenger brake light out.  Agents activated the emergency lights to effect a traffic stop.   The agent made contact with the driver, a 56-year-old white male who was identified as Darrel Fontenot.  During the field interview, consent to search the wallet of the Fontenot agent located Naloxone Sublingual Film 8mg/2mg.  Fontenot stated he did not possess a prescription of the Schedule III narcotic.  Agents also located in the vehicle, .28 grams of Marijuana.  Darrel Fontenot was issued a traffic citation for the vehicle violation and issued a Criminal Summons for 40:966 Possession of Marijuana less than 14 grams.
