NARCOTIC PRESS RELEASE: JOSEPH BERNIEL LAFLEUR JR
On February 5th, 2025, Agents with the Criminal Patrol / Narcotics Division with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office observed a bicycle traveling west bound on Ash Street without any illuminators on the front or back of the bicycle. Agents came in contact with a 50-year-old white male, who was identified as Berniel Joseph LaFleur Jr of Mamou. Upon agents advising Lafleur for the reason of the traffic stop, a pat search was conducted for officer safety. Lafleur had a bag in his possession and gave consent for a search of the bag. Located inside the bag was 2.59 and 0.73 grams of Marijuana located in two separate plastic wraps. Located in an aluminum wrapper was 0.38 grams of Methamphetamine. Lafleur admitted to the agents the illegal narcotics was his. A warrant was issued for (1) 1 Count of 40:967 Possession of Schedule II, Methamphetamines, and was arrested. Lafleur was also given a citation of 32:3021 "Lamps Required" .
