Largest Drug Bust Ever Made in Evangeline Parish

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following: 

On the 13th of July 2022, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy and the Narcotics Captain conducted a traffic stop on I49 Southbound for a speeding violation.  After contact was made it was determined that the operator, identified as Eric Martin, was in possession of Marijuana.  Also, he has an active Warrant out of East Baton Rouge Parish for Failure to appear for charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon.  Deputies placed Martin under arrest and conducted a search of the vehicle.  Inside the vehicle, they located a suitcase, in which Deputies discovered a large amount of Methamphetamine.  They had 38 bundles of Methamphetamine that were sealed inside the suitcase.  The approximate weight of the Methamphetamine is 40.125 Pounds with a street value of approximately $325,000.00!! This is the Largest Seizure of Methamphetamine in Evangeline Parish History.  This amount of illegal narcotics could have affected thousands of people.
