Date Posted: 04/23/2025

On March 31, 2025, Patrol Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while patrolling on the Lanse Bleu Road, when a silver van, bearing Louisiana license plate 470FPJ, pass traveling eastbound, and Deputies observed the van crossing the solid white line.   The Patrol Deputies, after running the license plate number, became aware that the license plate was canceled.   Deputies activated the emergency lights to effect a traffic stop.   The driver of the vehicle entered the parking lot of the "Blue Junction" store.  When the deputies attempted to approach the vehicle, the vehicle took off, entering La. 29 and heading North towards Ville Platte to evade contact with deputies.  Deputies were immediately in a vehicle pursuit, observing the silver van pass a vehicle in a curve, almost causing an accident.  The pursuit continued traveling North for several miles, then turned right onto Shuff Road, and then a left turn onto Megan Lane.  The suspects stopped the car and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the driver, a 42-year-old white male who was identified as Quinten Lance Deshotel, was captured and detained.   The passenger dropped a black backpack and fled the scene in a northeasterly direction.  At this time, several Patrol Deputies and Narcotic agents joined in the search for the fleeing passenger, and at one point, the narcotic agents observed the passenger fleeing, pointing a handgun in the direction of the agents.   The search ended with negative results, however, deputies learned the fleeing passenger was a 31-year-old black male identified by a picture lineup to be Scottie Preze Brown.  On April 4, 2025, Narcotics Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while investigating the pursuit that happened the day prior, Deputies arrived back at the location where the Passenger occupant was attempting to hide from Law Enforcement.
