FATAL SHOOTING IN EASTON LEAVES ONE DEAD

Sheriff Eddie Soileau, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office has released the following:

On Thursday, April 30, 2020 at approximately 2200 hours Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office received a transfer call from 911 Dispatch. Information received led to the dispatch of Patrol Deputies to a report of a shooting at the address of 1224 Rock Pit Road.

The initial investigation by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies revealed that a male subject identified as 33-year-old Harley David Brecken suffered a gunshot wound to his chest area.

 About an hour earlier, a verbal altercation occurred between the victim (Harley Brecken) and a male subject visiting his residence later identified as Branson Chase Vidrine. The verbal altercation led to the victim (Harley Brecken) being shot. The shooter fled the scene, after which the victim (Harley Brecken) was immediately Air Med to Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. The victim (Harley Brecken) was pronounced dead at the hospital the following morning.

Branson Chase Vidrine was safely apprehended and is in custody at this time in Rapides Parish (Glenmora). An Affidavit and Warrant of Arrest was submitted to 13th Judicial Judge Chuck West and signed for the charge of 2nd Degree Murder. No bond was set.

Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office would like to send a special thanks to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office for their assistance. As always, we would also like to thank the Public for their information and tips which led to the arrest of Branson Vidrine.

This investigation has not been closed and is still ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.
