EVANGELINE PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE EMPLOYEE TERMINATED!

On the 9th of June 2021 the Evangeline parish Sheriff's Department received a call from the Baton Rouge Sheriff Department. They had a vehicle stopped with three occupants are from the Ville Platte area. The Deputy who conducted the traffic stop found Marijuana in the vehicle. One of the occupants was Mikayla Batiste, who was employed by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department as a part time dispatcher. The Baton Rouge Sheriff Department advised that all the occupants were being charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute.
Sheriff Guillory immediately terminated Mikayla Batiste and issued the following statement.
I Sheriff Charles R. Guillory will not tolerate any member of my department conducting, condoning, assisting, are concealing any criminal activity, what so ever. I will run the office of Sheriff by the law, keeping a fair, ethical and transparent operation of my office, any employee who violates the law will be held accountable to the fullest extent.
