Evangeline Parish like most parishes are not immune to criminal activity.  Evangeline Parish Sheriff's office has been improving our methods to curtail crime as each year rolls by.  We now have License Plate Readers (LPRs) in two locations set up in the parish to locate a certain license plate of interest.  Additionally, EPSO is working on two other LPRs to be set up.  Once the license plate is input into our system and we get a "hit", it will send an email to the appropriate officer.  It could be for a stolen vehicle, trailer or a kidnapped child. A great tool.

As previously stated, EPSO added a highly sophisticated Drone which is practically invisible as it flies high above.  This is another great tool and it's already paying itself by solving crimes.  These are just the last two items EPSO has added to our department along with others to curtail crime and solve cases.

With the recent rash of thefts in our area, someone mention why not offer a reward towards giving tips for reporting a crime.  This was a great idea.

EPSO is now working on and in the very near future will be implementing a " Crime Stoppers " program to offer cash rewards to the community for tips on certain crimes.  In checking into this program and reaching out to other sheriff's offices that implemented a Crime Stoppers segment, it became aware that this program help solve crimes by offering cash rewards.  This program is implemented and approve through the Secretary of State Office and will consist of a five person un-paid board to set reward amounts and policy.

So, remember, we cannot solve crimes without the help of the community; help us to help you.

Thank you,

 Sheriff Charles R. Guillory
