DUI PATROLS CONDUCTED IN EVANGELINE PARISH

In January of 2025, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department conducted a Saturated Patrol in the Parish looking for Impaired Drivers this past weekend. Deputies were looking for traffic infractions to conduct a stop for safety purposes.  There have been numerous accidents caused by Impaired Drivers, which have caused serious injuries and even some have been Fatal.  

In order to protect the citizens of Evangeline Parish; the Sheriff's Office was out in force to deter those who may consider drinking and driving.  The EPSO teamed up with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to work on "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over".   We do not want anyone to fall victim to a Drunk Driver.  Every effort that we can put forth to eliminate or discourage someone from driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or drugs will help reduce the number of accidents in the Parish. 

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Deputies made contact with 17 persons during their patrol in which Standardized Field Sobriety Test were given.  There were There were 2 DWI arrest made during this specialized patrol.  There were other violations that were detected during the patrol, where 15 citations were issued.
