DUI PATROL LEADS TO ARREST
On March 14, 2025, Agents with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, while patrolling on the outskirts of Basile, observed a vehicle bearing the Louisiana license plate number F182806 improperly swerve within its lane from side to side to include driving left of center almost causing a head on collision on Old Basile Hwy and Fruge Road. Agents initiated the emergency lights to affect a traffic stop. Agents made contact with the driver, a 60-year-old white male identified as Douglas Wayne Young. Upon making contact with the driver, the odor of alcohol was emitting from his person. When asked if he consumed any alcohol, Young stated he had 3 or 4. The Standard Field Sobriety Test and Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus were administered, with Young failing to complete the test. Young was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriffs where he provided a breath sample, which resulted in being .120g% BAC. Douglas Wayne Young was arrested and charged with DWI and was given a traffic citation for his traffic-related offenses. The vehicle was towed by Car Care Towing Service.
