Criminal Patrol Unit Strikes Again

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office releases the following: 

On the 6th of November 2020 the Evangeline Parish Criminal Patrol Unit was patrolling on south Chataignier street. Deputy Willis stopped a black Chevrolet pickup for an expired license plate. The driver Leonard Thomas was advised of the reason for the stop. When Deputy Willis requested his drivers license, he said it was suspended. Mr. Thomas was acting nervous and jittery. Deputy Brandon Ardoin arrived on scene to assist Deputy Willis. Mr. Thomas was asked if he had any illegal narcotics in the vehicle. He said yes two ounces of marijuana. Deputy Willis then deployed k-9 Diego to perform an open-air search of the exterior of the truck. Diego altered to the presence of possible narcotics and Deputy Willis and Deputy Ardoin searched the truck. While searching the truck Deputies recovered several different types of narcotics along with cell phones and a police scanner. This resulted in the following arrest and charges.

LA:RS: 40:967 Possession of Cocaine 8.1 grams

LA:RS: 40:967 Possession of LSD 76 units

LA:RS: 40:964 Possession of Opium Bars 4 units

LA:RS: 40:967 Possession of Methamphetamine 17 grams

LA:RS: 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He is currently incarcerated
