ARREST BRIEFING ~ LEPOLEON HERBERT

On January 16th, 2025, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office was notified that Lepoleon Herbert (B/M D.O.B. 7/15/1968) was having inappropriate contact with a family member. Detectives then learned that Herbert had sexually assaulted another family member 7+ years ago when she was 15 years of age. After securing DNA from the victim and the suspect, it was confirmed that Herbert had fathered a child with the victim. 

Lepoleon Herbert has been charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Crimes Against Nature, 1 count of First-Degree Rape, 1 count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and 1 count of Molestation of a Juvenile.

On March 28th, 2025, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office received information that Herbert was in Eunice, La. Detectives then forwarded the Warrants for Herbert to the Eunice City Marshal's office. The Marshal's Office immediately began searching and located Herbert at a home on W. Ash Street in Eunice, La. He was then arrested, transported to the Eunice City Jail, and then transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail. He has a bond set at $1,300,000. The investigation is still ongoing.
