ARREST BRIEFING JESSE VEGAS AND BRANDY RICHARD
On December 4, 2024, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the Pizza Hut in the City of Ville Platte to take a complaint that there was possible abuse of a child on Jean Pierre Road in the Ville Platte area. The complainant was concerned relative.
Upon arrival, Deputies met with the complainant. Once learning the details of the abuse, DCFS was notified, conducted a preliminary investigation and removed the juvenile from the home. During multiple interviews with DCFS, the suspect (Jesse Vegas) admitted to DCFS that he struck the juvenile in the face during a heated argument causing a nose bleed.
The child's mother, Brandy Richard failed to render appropriate aid nor did she contact Law enforcement after the incident. She admitted that when she went to check on her in the home's bathroom, her nose was bleeding.
Based on this information and further investigation with Detectives, an arrest was issued for Jesse Vegas for Domestic Abuse Battery and Cruelty to Juveniles. An arrest warrant for Brandy Nicole Richard was also issued, who is a principal in the above-mentioned charges. They are both currently being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail without bond. This investigation is still ongoing pending further investigation and interviews.
