261 DRUG RELATED ARRESTS/CITATIONS SINCE JULY 1, 2020
Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, releases the following:
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department, on April 17 2021 stopped a car in Mamou for a traffic violation. While deputies were speaking to the driver, they detected a smell of marijuana, coming from the car. Deputies spoke to the driver and passenger and were granted permission to search the car. Deputies then recovered narcotics.

Then also on the 17th of April 2021 deputies stopped a car in Mamou for a traffic violation. Deputies noticed the passenger acting extremely nervous and jittery. When they asked the passenger to exit the car, a bag of marijuana fell onto the ground.

Then also on the 19th of April 2021, Deputies stopped another car in the Mamou area. When deputies walked up to the car they could see in plain sight, Marijuana and a bag of pills. The driver was charged as followed.

Also, on the 19th of April 2021, Deputies stopped a car in the Reddell area for a traffic violation. The driver had an active warrant for his arrest. When deputies arrested him, they conducted a search of his person. Deputies located narcotics in his pockets. The k-9 Diego was then deployed on the vehicle and gave a positive alert. The search of the vehicle turned up more narcotics.

Our citizens, children, and grandchildren deserve a safer and better parish.
