Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department conducted a Click it or Ticket Detail in Evangeline Parish looking for seatbelt and other safety violations. The EPSO teamed up with the LA Highway Safety Commission to help keep Evangeline Parish safe.  There have been numerous accidents, which have caused serious injuries and even some have been Fatal.  These possibly could have been avoided by simply wearing their seatbelts.  In order to protect the citizens of Evangeline Parish; the Sheriff's Office will be out in force to encourage people to wear their seatbelts.  We do not want anyone to fall victim in an accident, just because they weren't wearing their seatbelt. Deputies issued 57 seatbelt violations and 17 citations for other moving violations, with a total of 71 contacts made.

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory stated "I would like to remind all to please buckle up and be safe, including those young children by placing them in a proper child restraint system".
